Garden log for an average, but ambitious gardener. The goals of the Merbach Garden blog are first to keep a record of the garden for reference in days and years that follow and second to share the garden with distant friends and wanderers.

Looks like rain, so I drained the rain barrels into the gardens, hoping for a free refill.
Today's walk around the garden starts with the new herb garden. Not pictured: the dozen daffodil blooms in my neighbor's yard, the magnolias three doors down, the perilla, sunflower volunteers...
Mary & Wyatt put in the transplants and we added a few seeds for fun. If we don't get frosted, we have quite a head start on the year.
The layout:
Alyssum?
I split and relocated this nice thing that I can never remember the name of. Better picture next.
The pile in the corner is the trumpet vine and small tree I cut down over the weekend. Nice brush pile.
No more hog weed
First Tulip bud
The raised bed with radishes, carrots and spinach
Left over onion coming back
Radishes
Carrots
Spinach
Lilac buds
Lilies
is it geranium or columbine?
transplanted rose
2011 hydrangea is budding
something from Joan in 2011 is coming back

72°F and sunny is great weather to get started on the garden. Water my seedlings. Planted some seeds with Wyatt for an indoor grow box. More removing sod to make way for herbs and veggies.
